This research was conducted to investigate safety and standards of fitness equipments and playgrounds of parks located in region 1 of Tehran and to provide proper solutions. For this purpose, a checklist was prepared for data collection and evaluation of the current situation based on standards of Consumer Product Safety Commission instructions and standards of American Society for Testing and Materials as well as regulations of Institute of Standard and Industrial Research of Iran. Researchers later validated this checklist and all these parks were checked as case studies. The obtained results revealed that about 48% and 49% of the safety standards were considered in the playgrounds and playground equipment of children and the fitness equipments of adults, respectively. The following results were found in subscales: 25-90% for surfacing of playgrounds; 28-74% for playground equipment of children; 12-100% for stepladders; 11-89% for guardrails and handrails; 0-67% for balance boards; 0-100% for horizontal ladder; 33-85% for slides; 14-94% for swings; 14-86% for seesaws; 48- 92% for spring rockers.
