Relationship between coaches power supplies with team cohesion among South Khorasan Team sports

Since power has a major role in the communication and relationships between individuals, it cannot be ignored the influence of it on the team or group actions and methods of coaching. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between power supplies coaches with team cohesion in sport teams in South Khorasan province. 120 coaches and 800 athletes were selected in five team sport fields. 92 trainees (38 females and 54 males) and 260 athletes (86 women and 174 men) were selected randomly based on the Morgan table from the community. Data were collected by a researcher made questionnaire for personal information, power sources questionnaire (Power in Sport) and Team cohesion questionnaire (Group Environment Questionnaire). Questionnaires validity was estimated by masters of the sport management and their reliability using Cronbach's alpha, respectively (-0.78, 0.79, 0.81). Data were analyzed by Spearman test to analyze the research hypotheses and due to Kolmogorov Asmirnov results, nonparametric methods such as "U" Mann - Whitney and Kruskal - Wallis test were used (P ≤0.05). The results from the viewpoint of both groups (coaches and athletes) showed, the use of expertise power was the first priority of the coach power resources, and the last priority was the power to punishment and there was a significant relationship between power reward and task cohesion, between power authority and social cohesion, between expertise power supply and coaches legal power and team cohesion (p<0.05). There was no significant relationship between the source of coercive power and team cohesion. So, each coache's power supplies play a decisive role in the athletes team cohesion.
